Turn your Oscar Viewing Party into a Fun, Glamorous Affair!
The Oscars are like the Superbowl for fans of all things Hollywood, celebrity and glamour! Why not celebrate it like you would the Big Game – with a fun themed party! Clean Scene is here to give you all the tips and tricks to make your Oscar party the next best thing to being at the actual event!
The Guest List:
1) Invite people that love the Oscars – and will love a theme party – as much as you! There’s no bigger downer than having your BF’s boyfriend in the corner all night looking at his watch. So tell her to leave him at home and bring her Celebrity A-Game instead!
2) Make it a costume party and have guests dress up as their favorite nominee. Not feeling the people nominated this year? Have people dress up like movie starts past or present. Everyone loves a good Marilyn Monroe costume opportunity!
3) Outfit inspiration: http://www.teenvogue.com/style/2011/02/best-dressed-at-oscars#slide=1
The Ambiance:
1) Get guests into the mood before they enter your door.
-Have a red carpet in lined up in your entrance way, or stanchions with fake paparazzi behind them. It’s a great photo op that will be an even better keepsake after the last award has been announced!
2) Gold is the theme of the night, so cover your place in golden balloons! Blow them up with helium, tie them with gold ribbon and let them float on the ceiling for a festive atmosphere.
3) After the Oscars are finished, make sure to have your own after party, with video interviews of your guests talking about how happy or disappointed they were with the Oscar winners.
The Food:
1) What better way to honor the year in movies than with movie theater treats! Think boxes of candy, popcorn and even hot dogs! Everyone loves to have movie snacks – without paying the concession stand prices!
2) Or Get fancy with your food, a la the Governor’s Ball. Drizzle chocolate on strawberries, serve yummy appetizers and don’t forget a signature mock-tail!
3) Toast the winners! Serve sparkling apple cider with a squeeze of lemon and a halved strawberry in plastic fluted glasses each time a winner is called. Yum!
The Games:
1) Download Oscar voting ballots—or create them yourself!—and have all the guests fill them out before the show starts.

-Personalized ballots: http://www.ehow.com/how_2026124_personalize-oscar-ballot.html
2) Test your guests knowledge of movie trivia before the actual festivities get under way. Find some great games to print out here: http://martieknows.squarespace.com/blog/2011/2/21/academy-awards-party-movie-quote-trivia-game.html
3) Provide prizes to winners of each game. Prizes can include chocolate awards statues or replica mini Academy Awards.
However you throw your Oscar party, remember to have fun! It’s all about the glitz, glamour and celebration. Who knows, someday maybe we’ll be watching you on that Oscar stage accepting your award!
Easy Homecoming Hair Straight from the Red Carpet
What’s the high school equivalent of the Oscars? Homecoming of course! But with so many things to think about, like selecting the perfect dress and finding a hot date, getting your perfect hair style can be a bit stressful. Clean Scene is here to help by turning to the red-carpet for inspiration. Choosing the right hairdo can make or break your whole look. So to remove the stress from your tresses, we’ve conversed with top hairstylists to provide you with three simple, do-it-yourself coifs, taken straight from the red carpet. It’s as easy as 1-2-3!
No. 1: Kim K. Curls
Big curls are sexy and no one knows that better than our favorite reality star Kim K. Getting this naturally elegant look is as easy as a day at the beach.
1. Part your hair down the middle. Using a curling iron, curl your hair vertically outward.
2. Run your fingers through your hair to soften the curls.
3. Finally, mist your hair with aerosol hairspray to ensure your big curls stay put all night long!
Pair your hair with a great dewy moisturizer like Begging for Balance, and you’ll make all the boys swoon!
No. 2: Jessica Alba Braided Up-Do
Looking for a soft, romantic style but want an up-do? Pull your coif back in a side braid, a la Jessica Alba. This hairstyle is taking over the read carpet as the must-have do for a fun, yet elegant look.
1. If your hair is straight, start by brushing it out with a soft bristle brush. For curly hair, don’t brush it; just run your fingers through it. Begin the braid from the left side and braid it towards your right wrapping it along your ear and down.
2. Pull back the braid into a pony tail and wrap it in a bun. Make sure to secure it with bobby pins to prevent it from falling down while you’re shaking your groove thing on the dance floor.
3. Lightly mist aerosol hairspray to finish.
If your hair is off your face, your skin should be in perfect condition. Zap unwanted zits with Crazy for Clear.
No. 3: Katy P.’s 1940’s Vintage Waves
Take Homecoming back to the 1940’s with classic vintage waves, seen most recently on the beautiful Katy P. Here are the how-to steps to make this vintage hairstyle look great on you!
1. Use an anti-frizz serum throughout your hair to tame any flyaways. Section off your hair so that your part is larger on the right side.
2. Spray each section of hair before curling and roll the curler underneath towards the face.
3. Run your fingers through your hair to make it look soft and full.
Complete the classic look with glowing skin. Exfoliate with Gaga for Glow two days prior to Homecoming and again on the morning of the dance.
Now that you have accomplished your glamorous (and easy!) hairstyle, make sure to maintain your Clean Scene skin care regimen for perfect skin. Remember, beautiful skin is always trendy! Clean Scene wishes you a fun and safe Homecoming. Go on girl, strut your stuff like you’re on the red carpet!
From Washington to the Big Apple: Brittney Explains All!
Ever wonder what it’d be like to win a trip of a lifetime to NYC? After hundreds of submissions and weeks of searching, Clean Scene chose one lucky winner, Brittney B., to represent our brand at the UN International Year of Youth Summit this August. Brittney got up close and personal with Monique Coleman, sat in the Argentinean delegate seat at the UN and shopped her way through the big city! Read and get inspired by Brittney’s diary entry here!
I was very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to represent Clean Scene in New York at the United Nations for the International Year of Youth Culmination Celebration! There are no words to describe the feeling of how honoring it is to know that out of millions of teens I was chosen to represent them and bring back all that I had learned. When walking into the United Nations I was hit by such a positive atmosphere full of teen girls who were all passionate about wanting to make a difference and change the world. It’s one thing to want to change the world and another to actually take steps and change the world, and I was surrounded by girls who have already made steps and done things that have made a huge impact. The one major thing I learned as the “Argentinean Delegate” (for the day!) from all the incredible speakers like Monique Coleman and Ann Shocket is that you can make a huge difference just by doing little things.
As a spokesperson for Students Against Distructive Descisions (SADD), empowering my generation to be confident and live to their full potential is my mission. The speakers at the Year of Youth Celebration brought out the servant and volunteer in me and I just wanted to start planning, planning, and planning for things to do when I got back home to make a huge difference. It was the one push I needed to reach to my full potential and be the absolute best change maker I could be. By giving this message to the girls in my community I will inspire them to volunteer, then once they’re hooked on volunteering they can inspire others. It will turn into a chain reaction that will become unstoppable!
After our meeting at the UN, we went over to The French Institute which was CRAZINESS, but good craziness! There were so many people stuffed in a crowded place all doing multiple things to help different people and different charities/organizations. It showed the true colors of all us girls: we didn’t care how crowded it is, how hot it was, or how much we had to hold, we just wanted to help impact other’s lives. There was a booth where you helped pack a backpack with school supplies, and would stuff a note you’d write to them in it. All these backpacks will be sent overseas and change the lives of underprivileged children. I couldn’t be more honored to have been in that stuffy room with all those people doing what I was doing, it was definitely one of the best days I’ve ever had!
All I can say to the girls that didn’t get the opportunity to go is that you don’t have to attend a conference in New York to make a difference. You can easily get a group of friends together or get your school involved in many things that can make a difference, and even do something by yourself. I know with my message and the other 199 girl’s messages, our generation will be the one to beat. This generation’s girls do have the power to change the world, just wait and see…. we will!
What are you doing to change the world? Let us know in the comments, and you could win a donation to your charity of choice.
